5 Easy Party Favors for Lazy Moms

I freely admit that I am a Beta-Mom. I’m the one who brings store-bought cookies to the classroom bake sale, who forgets Halloween and ends up putting her kid in a 400-thread count Egyptian cotton pillowcase with eye-holes  and who reads her kid Strunk and White at bedtime. So sue me.

Booking the birthday party is easy, thanks to PlaceFull, where I can book an awesome party with hardly any effort. But the place where I am the most lamentable is birthday party favors. For my kid’s last birthday, 30 minutes before guests started arriving, I filled paper lunch sacks (some wrinkled from being reused) with Costco granola bars, individual novelty bandaids, high-end 72% cacao dark chocolate squares, and leftover Breast Cancer 3-Day silicone bracelets. And then I forgot to hand out the favor bags as the children departed.

But, having discovered the deep, rainbow colored hole of Pinterest, my dream party favors have taken a turn for the crafty side. I’m going to share some of my favorites with you.

Rainbow Playdough CupsRainbow Playdough Cups

Buy (or make, but that seems like WAAAAAY too much work for this lazy mom) a bunch of differently colored playdough, slice off even circles from each color then jam those bad boys into each of the empty playdough cups or small jars. Adorable, colorful cups of fun that won’t give anyone cavities and will help foster creativity. Nice job, mom!

Literary Themed FavorsLiterary Party Favors

If your kid’s party is at all themed on a book or movie then it’s easy to put together a themed favor bag to send home with your guests. A copy of the book or novelization and some choice elements from the story itself and you’ve got a great favor! Hunger Games party? Throw in some biscuits, a tube of neosporin and a bottle of water! Harry Potter party? Some novelty glasses, a wand-sized twig, and a baggie of jelly beans. Use a little creativity, open your mind and let the inspiration flow!

Sure it costs a bit more but just going out and buying prepackaged favors can save you time and energy. Perfect for Lego-themed parties, this Mom printed off the guest’s names in a cute Lego font and tied them on with ribbons. Easy, low-effort, and sure to please any kid who loves Lego. Way to go Beta Mom!

S’Mores FavorsSmores Favors

Everyone loves S’Mores. I mean, graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows, what’s NOT to love? There was a time when I would come home from work and make a s’more or two in the microwave.

Everyday.

It’s no wonder I gained 30 pounds! But it’s also an incredibly easy, incredibly cute way to send your kids party guests off with the phrase “Take home s’more fun!”.

Bag o' BerriesBag O’ Berries

In the annals of Beta Mom party favors this has to be my favorite. First: I LOVE berries of all kinds. Second: This is easy. Dead easy. And healthy which means the other moms won’t shoot daggers at you as they trundle their cake-fueled children back home.

Let’s give you the steps for this, most excellent party favor:
1. Get cute paper bags from the dollar store
2. Fill them with berries
3. Have a celebratory cocktail

Autumn Sakai is PlaceFull’s Mistress of the Blog. She’s a true Seattle native who runs in the rain, takes her kid to to the zoo in the rain, and waits for the bus in the rain. When it’s sunny she slathers on sunscreen and waits for the rain to come back. She loves a good wedding, bakes wicked awesome cookies, and secretly knows all the lyrics to ‘Yentl’. What? Don’t judge.
